Reminder of God
January 10, 2006I met some pretty remarkable people today. I am writing an article on the new Georgia Aquarium and got a behind the scenes tour of the facility along with interviews of some of the employees. If you’ll pardon the pun, what a whale of a facility. The sheer number of people involved, all with their areas of specialization, is mind-boggling. But what left an indelible impression on me was the aroma. Beyond the fishy smell one would expect behind the scenes at an aquarium there was something more; the scent of excitement. The air was electrified with it. But as excited as all the employees are they can’t tell anyone what’s happening. It’s all under wraps until Mr. Marcus does the unveiling. Just imagine a time when you have had the most exciting news. What was the first thing you wanted to do? SHOUT IT TO THE WORLD! Fortunately for these people the world will know soon enough. Word gets around when you have the world’s largest aquarium facility.
II Corinthians 2:14-15
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.
Ephesians 2: 4-7
But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ…that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
We are the fragrant aroma of Christ to a lost world. Word of his infinite grace and mercy needs to get around. God’s great love is worth shouting about! He pulled me, you, all of us from an ocean of sin that surely would have overcome us. Don’t you want to tell everyone! Do it soon, because, like the opening of the aquarium is imminent, so is Christ’s return.
